I Adore Painted Furniture!
And especially old painted furniture! There’s this great little shop in Guilford CT cleverly called The Madison Exchange. It’s the perfect spot for finding exquisitely painted antique furniture. All the pieces are painted using Anne Sloan’s chalk paint which creates a really cool antiqued finish. They sell the paint there as well. It’s where I got my inspiration for my client Olga’s dining room buffet Read the full post here
I loved the color of this painted buffet and knew it would be perfect for my client. So I went shopping around to my favorite junk shops and managed to find the same exact one at Teen Challenge in Branford CT. What a find! There ya go with the law of attraction and interior design, lol. See it, say it, feel it…ommmm. It worked as good as it ever does and lucky for Olga! …And her budget!!…
…well, it’s almost the same! Pretty darn close, and I like ours better!
I love how they gave this dining room a farmhouse look by “weathering” the painted furniture to make it look aged.
This old painted cabinet got the weathered look too. No way of messing this up…just dab, wipe, and rub… and it works well with the farmhouse look and shabby chic style too.
And this has got to be my all time Fav! I saw this bed in an Ethan Allen catalog and fell in love! So did my daughter.
My daughter wanted me to redecorate her room and give her a full bed. Well, as the law of attraction would have it…my mother-in-law just happened to have an almost replica. And she just so happened to want to replace it with a pullout sofabed. Bingo! Our dog Cassie photo bombed the pic with her fav dolly. The rug is on its way out too going to check out what Ikea has for rugs.
I love Ethan Allen’s painted furniture line! This painted yellow hutch warms the cockles of my heart!
This was the inspiration picture I used for Olga’s coffee station You can check out the full article here. Just love all the color!
Would you believe my mother in law has this same set?
I’ve been after her for years to let me paint it. Don’t think she’d go as swanky as this but it’s all brown and showing it’s age. Painted a pretty color, would totally update her dining room!
The black looks really sharp! So masculine and stylish! Love the tablescape too!
Oh Lordy, this just makes me sing! How about those lamps! PERFECTION! I think I’ll use this as my inspiration for a new staging project I just took on. Be sure to sign up so you don’t miss it. It’s going to be FABULOUS!
Gray is such a hot color right now! This old dresser is stylin’ now!
Add cool stenciling and crystal knobs to your painted furniture pieces
So pretty! I love decorating with color. Makes everything look so happy! I like happy. It’s like the furniture is saying please color me happy, lol. Don’t worry I’m not going to get all weird and tell you to listen to your furniture and let it tell you what color to paint it. Just do as I do- pick a fabric you love and want to use in the room and pull the colors from it.
I snapped these last two photos from a magazine and don’t remember which one. I believe it was back in 2009. Good to see the distressed painted furniture look is still going strong!
Hope you enjoyed my little show and tell!
