I caught the design bug early…

Hi, I’m Marie Grabo.Marie Grabo I’m a design entrepreneur who loves to help people create beautiful spaces.

I’ve loved interior design as far back as I can remember! When I was a little girl my mom used to show me the pictures in her “Architectural Digest”  interior design magazine that came in the mail every month. I couldn’t wait to see it!

We would cuddle up close as we turned the pages, oohing and ahhhing at all the beautiful design pictures. She really loved interior design and it totally rubbed off on me!

As I got a little older, she’d let me rearrange our furniture… often! 😛 , and gave me creative license for my bedroom.

How I loved picking out my mod flower power wallpaper, my fur bean bag chair, and my pink princess phone! It wasn’t called “Retro” style back then :).

I’m still into color, and enjoy creating fresh, crisp, inviting spaces. No drab here! I seldom use beige. I feel there is always a better color choice even for a neutral scheme. Soothing spa like colors work so much better! I’d love for you to check out my interior design blog where I sometimes rant and rave. It’s my Italian heritage, we tend to do a lot of ranting and raving in my family 🙂 but mostly it’s filled with tips, tricks, and ideas to inspire your own  decorating projects.Decorating collage for About Page

I’m a water baby and absolutely love anything beach, nautical,  or coastal. My favorite style is coastal, throw in some modern country, a tablespoon of rustic farmhouse, thick, crisp white moldings, board and baton paneling and some beadboard,  and you will have my recipe for my eclectic design style.

I totally love stepping out of my comfort zone to create clean modern design too. I believe any style when done right is eye candy!

My decorating and staging business is focused mainly on bringing out the “inner designer” in my clients through my Interior Guidance Consulting Services. It’s affordable for every budget.

Marie believes in the positive, uplifting affects that beautiful interior design has on the soul. “People just feel better in pretty rooms and I want that for my clients! Sometimes I care more about the details then my clients do so I’ll ask them to just trust me because I know the little details are so important. I can’t rest until it’s perfect! I think that’s a good thing, not sure if the contractors would think so ;-)”.

About Marie Grabo Designs & InteriorGuidance.com

I hung out my shingle in august of 2000. I had my first daughter; Nina, back in January and while on maternity leave from my dental hygiene job I got hooked on the decorating shows. I had decorated the nursery from soup to nuts and was craving another project. Another friend called me one day and asked if I would help her pick out some room colors for her living room. One thing led to another and it turned into a full redo. Not wanting to go back to work, and watching too many Oprah shows about following your passion I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business. I’ve had a few turns along the way, but 15 years later I’m still at it and loving it.

This career has brought me many dear friends whom I once called my clients. When you work closely with a client for, many times, months at a time they become like family.

I became fascinated with the internet. My second passion is my website. I started with interior-decorating-diva.com and now interiorguidance.com. I love writing and blogging about my experiences and enjoy teaching and helping people who like to do it themselves. My site is growing everyday! I am creating an online store with really cool home decor which I’m super excited about!, I’ve have a few more books up my sleeve, and perhaps an online design class and my own product. I just wish there were more hours in a day!!

As I write today, I sometimes refer to “We”, “Us” and “I” on my pages. Currently it’s mostly me . My long term goals are to bring on a team of other designers and staging consultants as my website demands more of my attention. But for now you have me all to yourself  😉
